PowerX Receives BESS Order from Kamigumi for Extra-High Voltage Battery Farm

2026.05.12

TOKYO, JAPAN ——— PowerX, Inc. (Head Office: Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture; Director, President and CEO: Masahiro Ito; Securities Code: 485A) has received an order from Kamigumi Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Kobe City; Representative Director and President: Norihito Tahara) for 36 units of its "Mega Power 2500" battery energy storage system (BESS), totaling 81.2 MWh in rated capacity. The systems are for a new extra-high voltage battery farm in Hiyoshibaru, Oita City, Oita Prefecture.

The new "Kamigumi Hiyoshibaru Battery Farm (tentative name)" is scheduled to commence operation in 2029. The Kyushu area has seen significant growth in renewable energy adoption but also faces substantial curtailment. By connecting to the power grid for charging and discharging operations, this battery farm is expected to contribute to stabilizing the power supply-demand balance in the region.

This project has been selected to receive a subsidy from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) under the "FY 2025 Subsidy Program for Supporting the Introduction of Energy Storage Systems to Promote the Adoption of Renewable Energy."

This marks the third battery farm site where Kamigumi has selected PowerX’s BESS, following an extra-high voltage battery farm currently under development in Kasai City, Hyogo Prefecture, and a high-voltage battery farm in Koto City, Tokyo. This large-scale project in Kyushu further expands the collaboration between the two companies.

PowerX will continue to contribute to achieving Japan’s carbon neutrality goals by providing BESS developed and manufactured domestically.
