PowerX Delivers Battery-integrated Charging System for EV Buses

2025.05.20

PowerX, Inc.(Head Office: Minato City, Tokyo, Japan; Director, President & CEO: Masahiro Ito) has delivered its “Hypercharger Pro,” a battery-integrated ultrafast EV charging system, for the first time at a bus depot in Saitama Prefecture. This installation is part of a broader collaboration with Kokusai Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo City, Tokyo, Japan; President and CEO: Hiroshi Kurotaki) aimed at promoting PowerX’s charging solutions within the bus sector, thereby supporting the electrification and decarbonization efforts across Japan.

At the Saitama East Depot, Kokusai Kogyo has also introduced a battery-electric bus “ERGA EV” into its fleet, with plans to commence operations soon on scheduled routes within Saitama City. Equipped with a large-capacity battery, the Hypercharger Pro system effectively manages peak electricity demand at the depot, reduces electricity costs, and enables efficient charging at a maximum output of 150 kW. Additionally, the system will utilize surplus electricity from the depot’s rooftop solar installations, further reducing greenhouse-gas emissions.

Kokusai Kogyo intends not only to operate these systems internally but also to leverage its trading functions to support transportation businesses nationwide, sharing operational insights with other bus operators. As a sales partner for PowerX, Kokusai Kogyo will promote the wider adoption of both Hypercharger and Hypercharger Pro systems.

Meanwhile, PowerX will continue to develop its battery-integrated charging systems into next-generation energy management solutions. Based on operational data and feedback from operators, these solutions will be capable of supporting further EV bus introductions. To enhance disaster preparedness, PowerX also plans to introduce a feature allowing the Hypercharger Pro battery system to operate independently, enabling vehicle charging and providing emergency power to the depot even during power outages.
