PowerX Receives BESS Order from Tokai Rika for Its Head Office & Plant

TOKYO, JAPAN --- PowerX, Inc. (Head Office: Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture; Director, President and CEO: Masahiro Ito; Securities Code: 485A) has received an order from TOKAI RIKA CO., LTD. (Head Office: Oguchi Town, Niwa District, Aichi Prefecture; President: Hiroyoshi Ninoyu) for four units of its “Mega Power 2500” battery energy storage system (BESS), with a total nominal capacity of 10.0 MWh. The systems will be installed at Tokai Rika’s Head Office & Plant. This is the second PowerX BESS deployment within the Tokai Rika Group, following one at its subsidiary, TOKAI RIKA NExT CO., LTD.

Scheduled to begin operation in November 2027, the system will lower the plant’s electricity costs through peak shaving and by shifting power purchases to lower-cost hours. It will also make use of surplus electricity from the plant’s solar power generation facilities, increasing the share of renewable energy in its power use. In addition, the system will support demand response (DR), charging and discharging when power supply is tight or when renewable energy output is expected to be curtailed, helping to stabilize the power grid.

This project has been selected to receive a subsidy from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) under its FY 2025 supplementary budget program, the “Subsidy Program for Supporting the Introduction of Energy Storage Systems to Promote the Adoption of Renewable Energy (Support Program for the Introduction of Large-Scale Commercial and Industrial Energy Storage Systems).”

PowerX will continue to support decarbonization in the manufacturing sector and a more stable use of electricity by supplying BESS developed and manufactured in Japan.
