PowerX Begins Sourcing Power from a Post-FIT Onshore Wind Farm

2026.06.01

TOKYO, JAPAN --- PowerX, Inc. (Head Office: Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture; Director, President and CEO: Masahiro Ito; Securities Code: 485A) has begun sourcing power from Wind Park Misato (Tsu City, Mie Prefecture), an onshore wind farm owned by C-Tech Corporation (Head Office: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture; President: Daisuke Shimohiro). The power comes from a plant whose purchase period under Japan’s Feed-in Tariff (FIT) program* has ended — known as “post-FIT” power.

Wind Park Misato has a rated capacity of 16,000 kW (eight 2,000 kW turbines) and commenced operation in 2006. It later moved onto the FIT program, and its 20-year purchase period has now run its full term, making it a post-FIT power source. Under this arrangement, Renewable Energy Promotion Organization, Inc. (REPO) serves as the wind aggregator and supplies 4,000 kW of the plant’s output to PowerX. PowerX will use this power to supply its electricity service for corporate customers.

Many more power plants built under the FIT program will begin reaching the end of their purchase periods from 2032 onward, so the volume of post-FIT power is expected to keep growing. PowerX plans to source a wide range of post-FIT power, starting with wind, which can generate even at night and deliver a stable output. In doing so, the company aims to broaden a renewable energy mix that currently leans heavily on solar, and to help keep electricity prices stable.

Overview of the Power Procurement

• Power plant: Wind Park Misato (Misato-cho, Tsu City, Mie Prefecture)
• Plant owner: C-Tech Corporation
• Plant rated capacity: 16,000 kW (eight 2,000 kW turbines)
• Volume procured: 4,000 kW
• Wind aggregator: Renewable Energy Promotion Organization, Inc. (REPO)
• Procurement period: June 2026 – May 2029

*Feed-in Tariff (FIT) program: A government-backed system that guarantees electricity from renewable sources is purchased at a fixed price for a set period (20 years for wind power). In Japan, the electricity is described as “post-FIT” (sotsu-FIT) once this purchase period ends.
