PowerX Receives Grid-Scale BESS Order for Battery Farm Jointly Funded by Mitsubishi Estate, ITOCHU, and Tokyo Century

2026.06.01

TOKYO, JAPAN --- PowerX, Inc. (Head Office: Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture; Director, President and CEO: Masahiro Ito; Securities Code: 485A) has received an order for 102 units of its battery energy storage systems (BESS), with a total rated capacity of 230.1 MWh. The systems are for a grid-scale battery farm jointly funded by Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda City, Tokyo; President and CEO: Atsushi Nakajima), ITOCHU Corporation (Head Office: Minato City, Tokyo; President & COO: Keita Ishii), and Tokyo Century Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda City, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koji Fujiwara).

The “Fukuoka Chikuzen Town Battery Farm,” to be developed jointly by the three companies in Chikuzen Town, Fukuoka Prefecture, is scheduled to begin commercial operation in FY 2027. While the adoption of renewable energy is advancing in the Kyushu area, output curtailment has become a challenge. By connecting to the power grid and charging and discharging, the battery farm will contribute to stabilizing the power supply-demand balance and mitigating output curtailment.

The battery farm will use the “Mega Power 2500,” a 10-foot container-sized BESS supplied as part of “PowerX × Bluestorage,” a co-branded package jointly offered by PowerX and ITOCHU.

This project has been selected to receive a subsidy from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) under the “FY 2025 Subsidy Program for Supporting the Introduction of Energy Storage Systems to Promote the Adoption of Renewable Energy.”

PowerX will continue to contribute to the realization of carbon neutrality in Japan by supplying domestically developed and manufactured battery storage systems.
