PowerX Receives BESS Order from Kurihalant for Extra-High Voltage Battery Farm

2026.04.09

TOKYO, JAPAN — PowerX, Inc. (Head Office: Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture; Director, President and CEO: Masahiro Ito; Securities Code: 485A) has received an order from Kurihalant Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka City; President and CEO: Kazuhisa Shikaya) for 16 units of its "Mega Power 2500" battery energy storage system (BESS), totaling 40.1 MWh in capacity. The systems are for a new extra-high voltage battery farm in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture.

The new "Ako Battery Farm" will connect to the power grid in the Kansai area, charging during periods of excess electricity and discharging during periods of high demand to help stabilize the power supply-demand balance. The facility is scheduled to commence operation within 2028.

This project has been selected to receive a subsidy from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) under the "FY 2025 Subsidy Program for Supporting the Introduction of Energy Storage Systems to Promote the Adoption of Renewable Energy."

This marks the third battery farm site where Kurihalant has selected PowerX’s BESS, following the "Daigo Battery Farm" (Daigo Town, Ibaraki Prefecture), which commenced operation in February 2026, and the "Awaji Island Battery Farm" (Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture), currently under development.

Kurihalant, a comprehensive engineering company with extensive experience in power infrastructure, and PowerX, a domestic manufacturer of BESS, will continue to contribute to Japan’s carbon neutrality goals through the development of battery storage facilities.
