Blue Sky Solar Selects PowerX's BESS for Four Power Plants in Kyushu

2025.07.15

TOKYO, JAPAN — PowerX, Inc. (Head Office: Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture; Director, President and CEO: Masahiro Ito) announced that its "Mega Power2700A" battery energy storage systems (BESS) have been selected for four solar power plant sites in the Kyushu area operated by Blue Sky Solar Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato City, Tokyo; Representative Director: Yasuhiro Fujimiya). A total of 11 units will be installed, providing 30.1 MWh of storage capacity.

Each power plant will be equipped with the "Solar Co-location BESS Package," a joint solution from PowerX and its partner Nishimu Electronics Industries Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka; President: Hideyuki Yamashina). The BESS installedare scheduled to commence operations in spring 2026. Through the "TAMERBA EMS" energy management system, the BESS will store solar energy generated during the day and discharge it during peak evening and nighttime demand.

This solution offers significant advantages for power producers, allowing them to mitigate revenue losses from output curtailment. It also improves profitability by enabling a transition from the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) to the Feed-in Premium (FIP) scheme. From a broader societal perspective, this approach ensures the full utilization of renewable energy, which fluctuates with weather conditions, thereby contributing to a more sustainable society.

This project has been selected for the "Subsidy Program for Supporting the Introduction of Battery Storage Co-located with Renewable Energy Sources" by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy (ANRE). In conjunction with this installation, Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda City, Tokyo; President & CEO: Yoshiro Hamamoto) will form a new fund for large-scale BESS installations.

PowerX will continue to contribute to the promotion of renewable energy and the decarbonization of power infrastructure by expanding the adoption of this package.
