PowerX Secures 219 MWh Grid-Scale BESS Order from Banpu Japan

TOKYO, JAPAN ― PowerX, Inc. (Head Office: Minato City, Tokyo; President & CEO: Masahiro Ito) today announced that Banpu Japan K.K. (Head Office: Chiyoda City, Tokyo; Representative Director: Niti Pitakteeratham),providing innovative battery storage solutions and electricity trading to support Japan’s Net Zero, has placed an order for 80 units of its ‘Mega Power’ grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS), totaling 219 MWh. This contract represents the largest single order for the system to date.

The order is for two new grid battery storage sites to be built by Banpu Japan in Fukushima Prefecture, and Miyazaki Prefecture. Each site will have a storage capacity of 109.6 MWh, equivalent to the daily electricity consumption of approximately 10,150 households.

The primary function of these grid-connected systems is to enhance grid stability by charging during periods of excess electricity and discharging when demand is high. This project is expected to accelerate the integration of renewable energy
