PowerX Delivers Ultrafast EV Charger to Audi charging hub Shibakoen
2025.04.23

PowerX, Inc. (Head Office: Minato City, Tokyo, Japan; Director, President & CEO: Masahiro Ito) has delivered a battery-integrated ultrafast EV charger to the new “Audi charging hub Shibakoen” (Minato City, Tokyo), established by Audi Japan (Head Office: Shinagawa City, Tokyo; Brand Director: Matthias Schepers). The facility opened for public use on April 24th.
“Audi charging hub Shibakoen” is equipped with two charging ports, each capable of charging vehicles at a maximum output of 150 kW. The facility is a part of Audi’s initiative to address several challenges faced by EV owners and potential users residing in cities, including a shortage of charging stations in urban centers, the inability to charge at home, and slow charging speed.
“Audi charging hub Shibakoen” marks Audi’s eighth worldwide and the second in Japan, following “Audi charging hub Kioicho” launched in 2024. It is accessible to all battery‑electric vehicle (BEV) users—not only Audi e‑tron owners. PowerX’s “Hypercharger,” featuring high‑capacity battery, was selected for the charging system to minimize the impact on the power grid while enabling ultrafast charging in central Tokyo.
PowerX and Audi Japan have partnered on EV charging since January 2023. In October of the same year, the first Hypercharger installation for an automotive brand in Japan took place at Audi Hachioji. Since then, deployment to Audi e-tron dealerships has accelerated, and as of today, installations have been completed at 29 Audi e-tron dealerships nationwide. These chargers are widely utilized by members of the Premium Charging Alliance**.
* The charger is compatible with the CHAdeMO 2.0.2 standard. CHAdeMO adapters cannot be used.
** Premium Charging Alliance is a charging service for owners of Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen vehicles.
