TOKYO, JAPAN --- PowerX, Inc. (Head Office: Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture; Director, President and CEO: Masahiro Ito; Securities Code: 485A) will add a new production line for large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) at “Power Base,” its headquarter in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture. The line is expected to begin operations in January 2027, with a total project cost of 2.0 billion yen.

Power Base currently produces mid-sized BESS and battery-buffered ultra-fast EV charging systems. The new line will expand the factory’s capabilities to include the large-scale “Mega Power 2500.” To further scale production of this product, PowerX is also opening a new factory, “Power Base Hokkaido,” in Tomakomai City, Hokkaido (see separate release).

Together with the new factory in Hokkaido and an existing partner factory in Tamano City, these three sites will form a manufacturing network targeting annual production capacity of 7.5 GWh by 2030. By strengthening its manufacturing capabilities in Tamano City and beyond, PowerX aims to expand domestic BESS production and contribute to improving Japan’s energy self-sufficiency.
