PowerX and Audi Japan Conclude MOU for Business Partnership for the Deployment of “Hyperchargers” at Audi e-tron dealerships throughout Japan and the joint development of “Audi charging hub.”

TOKYO, JAPAN―PowerX, Inc. (Head Office: Minato, Tokyo, Japan; Director, President & CEO: Masahiro Ito, hereafter PowerX) today announced that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Audi Japan (Head Office: Shinagawa, Tokyo; Brand Director: Matthias Schepers) to introduce “Hypercharger”, PowerX’s battery-integrated ultrafast electric vehicle (EV) charger at Audi e-tron dealerships throughout Japan. In addition, under this MOU, both companies will consider the joint operation of the “Audi charging hub” along with other relevant business collaborations. Through these initiatives, PowerX and Audi Japan aim to enhance the EV user experience in Japan and increase accessibility around EV charging and contribute to decarbonization with EV chargers powered by renewable energy.

Audi Japan, a leading provider of sustainable premium mobility, is promoting the electrification of its lineup with plans to release more than 15 EV models in the Japanese market by 2024. On the other hand, PowerX is developing the “Hypercharger,” its battery-integrated ultrafast EV charger with a built-in storage battery and maximum power output of 240kW to further promote Japan’s adoption of EVs. The mass production of “Hyperchargers” is scheduled to start later this year. The two companies have signed an MOU regarding the installation of “Hyperchargers” at Audi e-tron dealerships in the second half of 2023, the installation of “Hyperchargers” at the “Audi charging hub” co-developed by both companies, and business partnership opportunities in other related fields.

Under the MOU, the overview of the business partnership between the two companies is as follows:
・Introduction of “Hypercharger” at Audi e-tron dealerships throughout Japan.
・Introduction of “Hypercharger” at the “Audi charging hub” co-developed by PowerX and Audi Japan.
・Discussion on joint operation of the “Audi charging hub.” and consideration of potential location for the facility.
