PowerX Receives Order for Grid-Scale Battery Energy Storage Systems from Kurihalant
2025.02.17

TOKYO, JAPAN — PowerX, Inc. (Head Office: Minato City, Tokyo; Director, President and CEO: Masahiro Ito) announced that it has received an order from Kurihalant Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; President and CEO: Kazuhisa Shikaya) for battery energy storage systems (BESS) totaling 24.6 MWh for two battery farm projects. This marks PowerX's first deployment of its "Mega Power" BESS at extra-high voltage battery farms.
The systems will be installed at two locations: "Daigo Battery Farm" in Daigo Town, Kuji District, Ibaraki Prefecture, and "Awaji Sano-Niijima Battery Farm" in Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture. Both projects led by Kurihalant have been selected to receive subsidies from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) under the "FY 2024 Subsidy Program for Supporting the Introduction of Energy Storage Systems to Promote the Adoption of Renewable Energy."
Furthermore, the "Daigo Battery Farm" will be equipped with BCP (Business Continuity Planning) functionality, enabling power extraction from the battery farm during emergencies such as power outages.
Kurihalant, a comprehensive engineering company with extensive experience and technical expertise in the power infrastructure sector, and PowerX, which aims to become a next-generation energy company centered on domestic manufacturing of BESS, will continue to collaborate on the development, operation, and maintenance of battery farms to further promote the adoption of renewable energy.
