PowerX, Inc. (Head Office: Minato City, Tokyo, Japan; Director, President & CEO: Masahiro Ito) delivered two battery-integrated ultrafast EV chargers to “Audi charging hub Kioicho”, a fast charging station recently opened by Audi Japan (Head Office: Shinagawa, Tokyo; Brand Director: Matthias Schepers).

“Audi charging hub Kioicho” is a fast charging station equipped with four charging ports, each capable of charing vehicles at a maximum output of 150kW. By establishing this charging hub, Audi aims to address several challenges faced by EV owners and potential users residing in cities, including a shortage of charging stations in urban centers, the inability to charge at home, and slow charging speed. “Audi charging hub Kioicho” marks Audi’s seventh worldwide and the first outside Europe. It is accessible not only to owners of Audi’s e-tron models but also to all electric vehicle owners. PowerX’s “Hypercharger,” featuring storage batteries, was selected for the charging system to minimize the impact on the power grid while offering ultrafast charging capabilities.

PowerX announced its partnership with Audi Japan on January 20, 2023, unveiling plans to supply battery-powered ultrafast EV chargers across Audi’s nationwide dealer network. Later, on October 6 of the same year, Audi Hachioji became the first commercial installation site for the Hyperchargers. As of now, installation has been completed at 20 sites nationwide, catering to members of the “Premium Charging Alliance.”
